How to: Add a fill to an object in a slide.
Solution:
Select the object, and select the 'Format' menu and select 'Colors and Lines...'.
1) Select the object to which the textured fill is to be added.
2) Select the 'Format' menu and select 'Colors and Lines...' (The Colors and Lines dialog box appears.)
3) Do one of the following:
a) Select 'Automatic' or a color from the 'Fill' drop-down list box. (The fill color becomes highlighted.)
Automatic or color fill
b) Use a shaded fill:
1] Select 'Shaded...' from the 'Fill' drop-down list box. (The Shaded Fill dialog box appears.)
2] Select the desired radio button from the 'Colors' group.
3] (Special Case) If the 'One Color' radio button is selected, do one of the following:
NOTE: The 'Color' drop-down list box and the 'Light/Dark' horizontal scroll bar appears.
Shaded Fill, One Color
a] Select the desired color from the 'Colors' drop-down list box. (The selected color appears in the Colors drop-down list box and in take Variants group.)
b] (Special Case) If 'Other Color..' is selected from the 'Color' drop-down list box, choose a standard or customized color not offered on the 'Color' drop-down list box.
c] Click 'Light' or 'Dark' to lighten or darken the color. (The change is reflected in the Variants group.)
4] (Special Case) If the 'Two Color' radio button is selected, do one or more of the following:
NOTE: The 'Color 1' and 'Color 2' drop-down list boxes appear.
Shaded Fill, Two Color
a] Select the desired color from the 'Color 1' drop-down list box. (The selected color appears in the Color 1 drop-down list box and the Variants group.)
b] (Special Case) If 'Other Color..' is selected from the 'Color' drop-down list box, select a standard or customized color not offered on the 'Color' drop-down list box.
c] Select the desired color from the 'Color 2' drop-down list box. (The selected color appears in the Color 2 drop-down list box and the Variants group.)
d] (Special Case) If 'Other Color..' is selected from the 'Color' drop-down list box, select a standard or customized color not offered on the 'Color' drop-down list box.
5] (Special Case) If the 'Preset' radio button is selected, select the desired preset color from the 'Preset Colors' drop-down list box. (The selected 'Preset Colors' drop-down list box appears, and the selected color appears in the 'Variants' group.)

6] Select the desired shade style from the 'Shade Styles' group. (The selected shade style appears in the Variants group.)

7] Select the desired variant from the 'Variants' group. (The selected variant is highlighted.)

8] (Optional) Click 'Preview' to preview the shaded color fill selections without making any permanent changes.
NOTE: After the shaded color fill selections have been previewed, 'Preview' becomes dimmed until another color is selected.
9] Click 'OK'. (The Colors and Lines dialog box reappears.)
c) Use a patterned fill:
1] Select 'Pattern...' from the 'Fill' drop-down list box. (The Pattern dialog box appears.)
2] Select a pattern from the 'Pattern' group.

3] Select a foreground from the 'Foreground' drop-down list box for the pattern.

NOTE: If 'Other Color..' is selected from the 'Foreground' drop-down list box, choose a standard or customized color not offered on the 'Foreground' drop-down list box.
4] Select a background from the 'Background' drop-down list box for the pattern.

NOTE: If 'Other Color...' is selected from the 'Background' drop-down list box, choose a standard or customized color not offered on the 'Background' drop-down list box.
5] (Optional) Click 'Preview' to preview the pattern color fill selections without making any permanent changes.
NOTE: After the pattern selections have been previewed, 'Preview' becomes dimmed until another pattern is selected.
6] Click 'OK'. (The Colors and Lines dialog box reappears.)
d) Use a textured fill:
1] Select 'Textured...' from the 'Fill' drop-down list box. (The Textured Fill dialog box appears.)
2] Select the desired texture from the 'Textures' group. (The selected texture is highlighted and the name of the texture appears at the bottom of the Textured Fill dialog box.)

NOTE: Use the scroll bar to access more texture choices.
3] (Optional) To select a texture which is not displayed in the 'Textures' group:

a] Click 'Other...'. (The Add Texture dialog box appears.)

b] Select the desired file containing the new texture. (The new texture will be added to the Textures group, and highlighted with the name appearing at the bottom of the Textured Fill dialog box.)
c] (Optional) Click 'Preview' to preview the texture selection without making any permanent changes.
NOTE: After the texture selection is previewed, 'Preview' becomes dimmed until another texture is selected.
d] Click 'OK'. (The Colors and Lines dialog box reappears.)
e) Select 'Background' from the 'Fill' drop-down list box. (The current slide background is selected and is highlighted in the Fill drop-down list box.)
f) (Special Case) If 'Other Color..' is selected, from the 'Fill' drop-down list box, choose a standard or customized color not offered on the 'Fill' drop-down list box.
4) (Optional) Click 'Preview' to preview the fill selection without making any permanent changes.
NOTE: After the shaded color fill selections have been previewed, 'Preview' becomes dimmed until another fill is selected.
5) Click 'OK'.
